Officina107 Collection by Salis
Italian European Oak Flooring for Design-Forward Remodels in Palo Alto and Silicon Valley
The Officina107 Collection by Salis is a European oak flooring system built around a single idea: that a floor should make a statement, not just fill a room. Officina107 is organized into three distinct collections, Colore, Materia, and Mad, each with its own color palette, surface treatment, and design intent.
Like all Salis collections, Officina107 is protected by patented Legnoresina® Pietra technology, an integrated wood-resin system that bonds mineral-enhanced protection directly into the oak structure for durability that performs as confidently as the design.
At European Cabinets & Design Studios, Officina107 is specified as part of our design-build remodeling process, coordinated alongside Italian cabinetry, countertops, and architectural finishes for a cohesive result throughout the home.
THE THREE COLLECTIONS
Three Design Directions, One Collection
Colore: Wood as a Neutral Canvas
Colore challenges the idea that wood is most beautiful in its natural state. Instead, it treats oak as a surface where texture and color take shape through the interplay of light and shadow, revealing the material’s depth through craftsmanship and surface texture.
Available in 9 greige tones and 6 installation patterns. The signature Mosso layout combines three different plank widths, each with its own surface treatment, in a single floor. The result is a surface with real tactile depth that looks different depending on the light and where you’re standing
Colore is ideal for modern and contemporary interiors across Silicon Valley where the floor is intended to be a primary design element rather than a background surface.
Materia: The Ages of Wood
Materia takes a different approach, stripping color away entirely to focus on wood in its most elemental form. The series traces the natural lifecycle of oak across four stages, each representing a different relationship between the material and time.
- Nat: Fresh-cut oak in its most raw, unaltered state
- T1: Early character beginning to develop
- T2: Deeper tones and texture acquired through age
- T3: Fully aged oak with the richness that only time can produce
Available in 4 tones and 6 installation patterns, Materia is the right choice for projects where authenticity and material honesty are the primary design values. It works particularly well in homes where the architecture already has strong character and the flooring needs to complement rather than compete.
Mad: Expressive Surface, Bold Character
Mad is Salis’s most expressive offering within Officina107, combining bold tones with unconventional pattern combinations. It uses the narrow 4.5 cm Stretto plank width in long runs of approximately 2 meters to create scenic surface patterns that feel organic rather than uniform.
Mad suits projects where a conventional floor would feel like a missed opportunity. It works best in spaces where the flooring is meant to be noticed.

HOW WE SPECIFY OFFICINA107
Officina107 as Part of Our Design-Build Remodeling Process
At European Cabinets & Design Studios, Officina107 is specified as part of a full-service design-build remodeling process, supplied and installed alongside cabinetry, countertops, and architectural finishes rather than as a standalone purchase. Flooring selection typically happens during the cabinetry design phase, when color temperature and material relationships across the whole home are being actively worked out.

FAQ SECTION
Frequently Asked Questions About Officina107 Flooring
What makes Officina107 different from other European oak flooring collections? Most oak flooring collections offer variations on the same theme: natural tones, clean grain, traditional layouts. Officina107 is structured differently. It gives you three genuinely distinct design directions to choose from: Colore, which uses crafted texture and greige tones to elevate oak beyond its natural state; Materia, which strips everything back to raw, untreated wood across four stages of age; and Mad, which combines bold color with unconventional patterns. The collection is designed for projects where the floor is part of the design conversation, not just the backdrop.
Is Officina107 suitable for high-traffic areas? Yes. All three directions within the collection are protected by Legnoresina® Pietra technology, which delivers up to 6x greater wear resistance than standard hardwood finishes. It holds up well in open-concept living spaces, modern kitchens, and other high-use areas without requiring the careful maintenance that traditional hardwood demands.
Which direction within Officina107 is right for my project? That depends on what you want the floor to do in the space. Colore works well when you want surface depth and tactile interest without committing to a strong natural wood tone. Materia is the right call when authenticity and raw material character are the priority. Mad works best in spaces where the flooring is meant to be noticed and a conventional floor would feel like a missed opportunity. Our design team works through that decision with you as part of the material specification process.
When should flooring be selected during a renovation? Earlier than most people expect, ideally during the cabinetry design phase, not at the end. Flooring runs through the whole home, so its tone and undertone affect how every other finish reads. Getting it on the table early means you’re making decisions in the right order, not retrofitting a floor to cabinetry that’s already been ordered. Learn more about how our process works →
Where can I view Officina107 samples? At our Palo Alto showroom at 864 San Antonio Rd. Since flooring works best when you can see it alongside cabinetry and other finishes, we recommend booking a design consultation or dropping in to look at samples.
ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER
About Salis: Italian Pioneers in European Oak Flooring
Salis has been manufacturing prefinished European oak flooring in Italy for decades, building a reputation on material innovation and environmental responsibility. Their development of the Legnoresina® system was a direct response to a longstanding problem in hardwood flooring: surface finishes that look great initially but degrade faster than the wood beneath them. By integrating protection into the oak structure itself, Salis extended the functional lifecycle of their floors and reduced the need for refinishing or replacement.
Officina107 represents Salis’s most design-forward expression of that technology. Legnoresina® Pietra is certified to the best class for indoor air quality under VOC ISO 16000-9:2006, contains no formaldehyde or pentachlorophenol, and carries a silver ion antibacterial treatment that reduces bacterial load by 99.9%. It has been independently tested against more than 90% of common household stains and is validated for use in kitchens and bathrooms. View all flooring collections →
