Armonico Collection by Salis
Premium Italian European Oak Flooring for High-End Remodels in Palo Alto and Silicon Valley
The Armonico Collection by Salis is a high-performance Italian-engineered European oak flooring system built for homeowners and architects undertaking full-home renovations and high-end kitchen remodels throughout Palo Alto, Los Altos, Atherton, Menlo Park, and the greater Silicon Valley area.
At the heart of Armonico is Salis’s patented Legnoresina® Pietra technology, an integrated wood-resin system that bonds mineral-enhanced protection directly into the oak structure, rather than sitting on top of it. The result is Italian hardwood flooring that looks and feels like natural European oak while outperforming traditional finishes in durability, scratch resistance, and long-term maintenance.
WHAT MAKES ARMONICO DIFFERENT
Legnoresina® Pietra: Performance Built Into the Wood
Unlike conventional hardwood floor coatings that wear away over time, Legnoresina® Pietra is an integrated multilayer wood-resin system enhanced with mineral components. It becomes part of the oak structure itself, delivering measurably superior performance for high-traffic living spaces, modern kitchens, and whole-home remodels.
- Up to 6x greater wear resistance compared to standard hardwood finishes
- Enhanced scratch resistance for active households and open-concept living areas
- High resistance to common household stains
- Easy, low-maintenance surface care
- Authentic European oak texture and warmth underfoot
This combination of Italian engineering and natural oak character makes Armonico one of the most specified European oak flooring options in our Silicon Valley renovation projects.

COLOR RANGE
11 European Oak Tones: Calibrated for Cohesive Design
Armonico offers 11 balanced European oak tones spanning soft neutrals to warm and cool extremes. This structured palette is purpose-built for whole-home coordination, making it easier to align flooring with cabinetry finishes, wall treatments, and other architectural materials during a full Palo Alto or Silicon Valley renovation.
Because flooring runs continuously through a home, selecting the right tonal direction early in the design process is essential. In our design-build projects, flooring tone selection typically happens in parallel with cabinetry specification to ensure room-to-room harmony.
The three grade options, Special, Mix, and Country, allow further customization of surface character:
- Special: Clean, minimal grain for modern and contemporary interiors
- Mix: Balanced grain and tonal variation for versatile design schemes
Country: Expressive knots and character marks for warm, textured aesthetics
INSTALLATION PATTERNS
Six Installation Geometries: Flooring as an Architectural Element
Armonico’s six layout options allow flooring to become a defining design element rather than a background surface. Each geometry suits different architectural intentions and interior scales:
- Tavola: Wide-plank format for spacious, modern interiors across Palo Alto and Silicon Valley homes
- Mono: Clean, uniform single-width planks for minimal, contemporary design
- Multi: Mixed-width planks that introduce natural visual movement
- Stretto: Ultra-narrow 4.5 cm strips for bold linear texture
- Ita: Traditional 90° Italian herringbone, a hallmark of European craftsmanship
- Spina: Chevron pattern available in standard and 45° cuts for dynamic, geometric impact
Our design team helps homeowners and architects select the geometry that best suits the architectural intent and scale of each space.

HOW WE SPECIFY ARMONICO
Armonico as Part of Our Design-Build Remodeling Process
At European Cabinets & Design Studios, Armonico is specified as part of a full-service design-build remodeling process, supplied and installed alongside cabinetry, countertops, and architectural finishes rather than as a standalone purchase. Flooring selection typically happens during the cabinetry design phase, when color temperature and material relationships across the whole home are being actively worked out.

FAQ SECTION
Frequently Asked Questions About Armonico Flooring
What is Legnoresina® Pietra and how is it different from a traditional wood finish? Think of it as protection that lives inside the wood rather than on top of it. Legnoresina® Pietra is a patented wood-resin system developed by Salis that infuses mineral-enhanced protection directly into the oak structure itself. Traditional finishes sit on the surface and wear away over time; Legnoresina® bonds to the wood at a structural level, producing a stone-like protective layer that delivers superior durability and scratch resistance while preserving the natural look and feel of European oak.
Is Armonico suitable for high-traffic homes? Very much so. The wear resistance is up to 6x greater than standard hardwood finishes, which makes it a natural fit for open-concept living spaces, modern kitchens, and any high-use area. It holds up well in active households without requiring the kind of careful maintenance that traditional hardwood demands.
When should flooring be selected during a renovation? Earlier than most people expect, ideally during the cabinetry design phase, not at the end. Flooring runs through the whole home, so its tone and undertone affect how every other finish reads. Getting it on the table early means you’re making decisions in the right order, not retrofitting a floor to cabinetry that’s already been ordered. Learn more about how our process works →
Can Armonico be installed throughout an entire home? Yes, and it’s often specified that way. Running the same floor continuously through kitchens, living areas, dining rooms, and bedrooms is one of the most effective ways to create a sense of architectural cohesion across a full renovation. Where can I view Armonico samples? At our Palo Alto showroom at 864 San Antonio Rd. Since flooring works best when you can see it alongside cabinetry and other finishes, we recommend booking a design consultation or dropping in to look at samples.
ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER
About Salis: Italian Pioneers in European Oak Flooring
Salis has been manufacturing prefinished European oak flooring in Italy for decades, building a reputation on material innovation and environmental responsibility. Their development of the Legnoresina® system was a direct response to a longstanding problem in hardwood flooring: surface finishes that look great initially but degrade faster than the wood beneath them. By integrating protection into the oak structure itself, Salis extended the functional lifecycle of their floors and reduced the need for refinishing or replacement.
Armonico is their flagship expression of that technology. Legnoresina® Pietra is certified to the best class for indoor air quality under VOC ISO 16000-9:2006, contains no formaldehyde or pentachlorophenol, and carries a silver ion antibacterial treatment that reduces bacterial load by 99.9%. It has been independently tested against more than 90% of common household stains and is validated for use in kitchens and bathrooms.
