Because there’s absolutely no reason why your kitchen shouldn’t have a great wine refrigerator.
Product debuts abounded at the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s annual KBIS industry show in Las Vegas. European Cabinets & Design Studios spent one day there perusing kitchens and countertops, tile, shower floors, faucets, appliances, lighting fixtures, sinks, and toilets. But the most prolific product seemed to be the wine refrigerator—virtually every manufacturer we passed had one!
Back home exhausted and in need of a glass of red, we picked out our three favorites:
3. Perlick 24” Signature Series Dual-Zone Refrigerator/Wine Reserve
The Perlick Signature Series Dual-Zone Refrigerator/Wine Reserve is basically a wine fridge for the whole family. The unit has two independent zones to sore both food and wine at the appropriate temperature. The top zone has two full-extension wine shelves that hold up to 14 bottles of wine and the bottom zone has its own extension shelf to hold up to 75lbs of whatever else you want to pack in there be it snacks, dessert, the odd shrimp cocktail…
The Signature Series collection also includes the Dual-Zone Freezer/Refrigerator Drawers and a Dual-Zone Wine Reserve. All three units are available for indoor or outdoor use and come in stainless steel, solid wood overlay, stainless steel and glass, or wood and glass.
2. Vinotemp 7-Bottle Mirrored Wine Cooler
What’s the old adage—don’t judge a cook by the size of his kitchen? Well, finally there’s a wine fridge suitable even for the smallest of spaces! Inspired by space-saving European design, Vinotemp’s 7-Bottle Mirrored Wine Cooler is as practical as it is attractive. The unit meets industry standards in height and depth, but it’s only 5.8” wide.
Vinotemp’s new Wine Cooler features the company’s patented mirrored trim design, a dual-pane glass door, adjustable touch-screen temperature control, and soft interior LED lighting. It can be installed as a built-in or freestanding unit.
1. Liebherr 1803
The Liebherr 1803 wine refrigerator was by far our favorite of them all. Stopped in our tracks by the gorgeous reflective glass cabinets, we moved in closer to discover they open with just a gentle touch—perfect for the modern hands-free kitchen. They also have LED screen that clearly displays the temperature, which can be adjusted between 41˚ and 68˚ F, a dimmable interior LED lighting system that makes it easy to see what you’ve got, and beautiful untreated wood shelves on telescopic rails. The shelves can store up to 18 bottles and are flexible enough to accommodate any bottle shape or size.
The doors of the 1803 are fitted with tinted, insulated safety glass that is scratch resistant and really easy to clean, and the unit comes with an A+ energy efficiency rating. So the only question left to ask, is do you want this in white or black?
